What should I bring to my first consultation?

Be sure to bring the results of any tests you have already done (MRI reports, previous physician notes related to this consultation).

How long does a consultation take?

A consultation usually takes between 20 and 30 minutes. We take the time to make sure that you have a clear and thorough understanding of your diagnosis and your suggested treatment plan.

Will I need to undergo additional tests?

Ultrasound, nerve conduction study, CT scan or MRI may be required. Some of these tests can be done on our premises.

Will I need surgery?

Many conditions can be treated without surgical intervention. Surgery could be required in certain cases. However, Dr. Brutus is a specialist in minimally invasive procedures and will always choose the least invasive approach to treat your condition, shorten your recovery time, and allow you to resume your regular activities as soon as possible.

Surgery

What type of anesthetic will be used?

Minimally invasive surgeries are generally performed with a local or regional anesthetic. Dr. Brutus also works with WALANT to induce anesthesia and hemostasis in the area of the surgical procedure to allow surgeries to be done without the use of a tourniquet.

Will I need to fast on the day of surgery?

Fasting is not required, as local anesthesia is used, not general anesthesia.
