Injecting PRP (blood plasma with increased platelet concentration) is a treatment technique used in various orthopaedic and sports injuries. This treatment involves taking a small amount of blood from the patient and centrifuging it in order to extract the platelet-rich plasma. The plasma is then re-injected under ultrasound guidance into the area needing treatment.

Injecting PRP stimulates the healing process by reducing inflammation and accelerating the regeneration of ligaments, tendons and tissues. Platelet-rich plasma releases growth factors that activate cell renewal, promote the formation of blood vessels, and thus accelerates the healing process. Unlike corticosteroid infiltration, PRP is not a pain reliever, but rather a restorative treatment, effective in the long term. Several injections may be required, a few weeks apart.
