Extensor tendons are located on the back and extend the fingers. The inability to move certain parts of the fingers will occur when there are injuries.

What causes extensor tendon injuries?
Extensor tendon lacerations usually result from open lacerations or from a blow.
What are the symptoms?
Inability to extend the affected finger or deformity.
How to diagnose it?
Usually, clinical examination alone allows accurate diagnosis.
Functional treatment
The hand usually needs to be splinted until the tendon heals.
Surgery
When the tendon has been cut by a laceration, the surgeon will repair the tendon with sutures and immobilize the hand after surgery. Hand therapy will be required.
