Carpal tunnel syndrome is one of the most common hand disorders, especially in people aged 50 and over. It occurs when the median nerve running through the wrist becomes compressed in its channel, the carpal tunnel. The compression affects the sensory and motor function of the hand, which can cause numbness, pain and the inability to perform certain movements. If repetitive manual tasks are a cause frequently associated with TTS, certain chronic diseases (diabetes, hypothyroidism), hormonal imbalances and age are also predisposing factors.
